WARDROBE GUIDE

Welcome to Your Headshot Experience!

Hi there! I’m so excited to work with you to create stunning headshots that capture your essence and confidence. At Liliana Chavez Photography, I pride myself on helping my clients feel, look, and shine their absolute best. From wardrobe choices to the tiniest details, I’ll guide you every step of the way to ensure your images are polished, professional, and uniquely YOU. This guide will help you prepare for your session, so you can step in front of the camera feeling empowered and ready to conquer. Let’s make magic happen!

Your headshot is a reflection of YOU – your personality, professionalism, and energy.

These are best advice I can give you:

Mindset: Start your day with positivity. Listen to your favorite playlist, take a few deep breaths, and remind yourself: You are strong, beautiful, and unstoppable!

Confidence Tip: Practice your favorite poses in the mirror. A little self-rehearsal goes a long way in feeling comfortable and confident during your session.

Wardrobe and Style

Your outfit sets the tone for your headshot. Here’s how to choose the perfect look:

  • Colors: Solid colors work best. Neutral tones (black, white, beige, or gray) or jewel tones (deep green, royal blue, burgundy) are flattering and timeless.
  • Fit: Choose clothing that fits well and makes you feel comfortable. Avoid anything too tight or too loose.
  • Details: Stay away from busy patterns or logos. Simplicity is key to keeping the focus on YOU.
  • Layers: A blazer or cardigan adds structure and professionalism to your look.

The Power of Accessories

Let's complete the style

A plain sponge cake doesn’t look like much until it’s jazzed up with frosting and toppings. In the same way, fashion accessories give flavor to an ordinary looking outfit and create that WOW factor to your images.

Here are three important factors:

#1: Accessories help style outfits differently

#2: Shows up your personality

#3 Makes your entire outfit stand out

Facial Tips

Your face is the star of the show!

  • Practice Expressions: In the mirror, try a soft smile, a full smile, and a confident neutral look. Relax your jaw and soften your eyes for a natural feel.
  • Rest: Make sure you get a good night’s sleep before your session to avoid puffiness or tired eyes.

Hair and Makeup

Washing Face

Whether you're having a pro do your makeup or you are doing it yourself, thoroughly wash your face, use a mild scrub and moisturize your skin before starting with makeup. Follow the directions the makeup artist tell you to do as far as skin acre before the appointment.

  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session for glowing skin.
  • Skincare: Keep your skincare routine simple – moisturized, clean skin is best. Avoid experimenting with new products to prevent irritation.

TIP: Don't try a new face products you’ve never tried before to avoid

any irritation.

NAILS

For a photo shoot we recommend a clear or neutral nail polish in order to not distract attention from your face. A one colour palette is the safest bet. If you are seeking a splash of color (a classic red for example), then whatever you do make sure that it compliments your outfits!. Avoid chipped polish!

MAKE UP

TIP: MASCARA - If not choosing  a makeup artist,  PLEASE PLEASE buy a brand new mascara just for your session so its not clumpy.

Look for mascara that has a primer and final coat or buy them separate.

Natural

Make up is the best way to go for your session. You still want to look and feel your age!

Don’t go overboard with such a drastic look that you don't feel like yourself.

TIP: Earthy tones help to enhance your natural features during the day and sunset light.

.

Confidence is your best accessory . Wear it boldly, and let your light shine through every shot.

My belief is that every person should be framed in the moments they’ve felt the most loved and cared for.

Additional Tips for Success
